Friction and Friction Clutch Arms

The DecTron® Friction and Clutch Arm Systems are built to give you a hand, delivering dependability, easy maintenance and long lasting performance!
Ideal for a full range of medical, electronic and industrial OEM applications, these arms are rigid and lightweight, can easily be positioned in all three axis, and will safely support loads as high as 8 - 14 pounds (depending on arm configuration), whether the system is folded, fully extended or anywhere in-between.
Here's how they work and the difference between the two: The Friction Clutch has joints which move freely in the upward direction, allowing the arm to swing up and out of the way at the touch of a finger tip while down pressure engages the adjustable friction mechanism.
The Friction Arm, identical in appearance and maneuverability, was originally designed as an answer for a ceiling mounted solution where the Friction Clutch's combination free moving/friction joint would not work. The solution was simple, replace the Friction Clutch's internal joints with joints utilizing adjustable friction in both the up and downward directions.
Both arms will hold a load which can rotate 360° horizontally and travel over a vertical arc of more than 145°. A 5/32" hex wrench is all that's needed for tension adjustment to assure proper vertical positioning and weight support. The load-mounting pin also has three-axis rotation to position it in virtually any position.
The DecTron® Friction and Friction Clutch Arm Systems have no springs to pop out or lose tension and no rivets to break. Other features include use of precision-machined steel within the joints for long life, adaptable mounting capabilities, and a maximum standard reach of 42 inches. Hollow construction of our aluminum arm permits wires or tubing to be concealed for safety, appearance and cleanability.
These versatile arm systems are currently being used to support diathermy equipment, bar code readers, ultrasound equipment, sensors, microscopes, tubing's, electronic equipment, optical assisted surgery equipment, medical phototherapy equipment, surgical microscopes, tele-video equipment, medical sensor equipment, and much more!
